Learning to understand and identify shapes helps your child to develop in many ways.

• Exploring & comparing shapes helps build math skills and your child begins to understand geometry.
• It helps develop communication & language skills. It develops the ability to describe shapes to describe objects for e.g. a square box, a rectangular table etc.
• Learning to identify shapes helps your child to learn to recognize letters of the alphabet & numbers.
• It also develops creative skills. It enhances the ability to draw or do craft work better.
• Teach your child through books, activities, games, blocks, toys, worksheets, art & craft.
• Help your child to observe that everything around us has a shape the book, the ball, the plate, the cake, the window, a slice of pizza etc.
• Create an environment to explore & learn. Encourage your child to build structures using different shaped wooden blocks or Lego bricks.
• Soon your child will learn to recognize two-dimensional shapes like circle, square, triangle & rectangle. Some smart ones will be able to identify 3-dimensional shapes like cube, sphere, pyramid etc.
