The vision in which we see the world defines our lives. Want to broaden the vision of your child?

Try this activity and let him/her know about the magnitude of our planet and the places inside the planet.

Material Required

  • My Place In The World- Activity Cutout Sheets
  • Passport size picture of your child
  • Glue
  • Safety Scissors

Activity Aim

Steps

1

Print out pictures of the earth, our continent, our country, the state you live in.
Find pictures of your town, the picture of your home and your child.

Take the Activity cutout sheets and cut along the dotted lines to get separate circles of my planet, my continent, my country, my state, my city, my home and me.

Help your child to glue the picture of the earth in the middle of the circle ’My Planet’ and talk about the planet earth.

Show pictures and talk about all the planets.

On the circle ’My Continent’ help your child to paste the picture of our continent.

Show your child the continents on the globe if possible.

Let your child know the names of the continents.

On the circles my country, my state, my city, my home and me, help your child paste the pictures of each one of them and talk about them.

Now keep the circles above each other according to their sizes so that each circle is visible and punch a hole at the top.

With a stain ribbon or a yarn tie a loose knot to hold them together in such a way so that you can flip the circles.

This project helps your child understand the relative sizes of different geographic locations.
