This hands-on activity will help your child understand the forms of water:
Ask your child to fill an ice tray with water. Explain that the water poured in the ice tray and the water we use for drinking and washing is the liquid form.
Ask your child to place the tray in the freezer and take it out of the freezer after a few hours. Ask your child to take the ice cubes out of the tray and place them in a pan. Explain that ice and snow are the solid forms of water.
Leave the ice cubes at room temperature for a few hours and let your child notice that the solid ice has melted and turned to liquid.
Heat the water in the pan and let your child observe the steam. Explain that steam is the gaseous form of water also called water vapour.
