Introduction

Transportation is an important part of everyday life, and as such is a topic many children are interested in.

So, here is how you go about it. For that, grease your wheels, start your engines and get ready to roll.

Material Required

  • Flashcards- Vehicles
  • Books and toys of different means of transportation.

Start introduction by asking questions:

"How do you go to school"?

“Do you go by car, bus, motorbike, auto etc.?

"Do you have a bicycle or a tricycle?”

Play the video.’Down By The Station’, talk about train travel.

Show pictures of various land transport.

Show your child pictures of various types of transport vehicles from books and flashcards.

Sing ’Row, Row, Row Your Boat.

Show pictures of various water transport, boats, ships, rafts and motorboats.

Make paper boats for your child.

Play the video ’Dip, Dip, Dip My Blue Ship’.

Have a large tub of water on the table.

Let your child place the boats in the water and float them.

Play the video- ’I Am a Little Airplane’.

Show pictures of aeroplanes, helicopters, gliders, hot air balloons.

Talk about air travel.

Make a paper plane for your child.

Play the song and show your child how to fly the paper plane.

Sing ’Wheels on the bus goes...’. Talk about travelling by car, or bus.

Talk to your child about the wheels,

Ask your child to count the wheels of the bus.
Talk about tyres, steering wheel, horn, windows etc.

Explain the importance of transportation & how it helps us to travel from one place to another.

Explain that there are three modes of transport, land, water & air.

Try a transportation theme.

Get some transportation-related toys.
Like a car, a bus, a truck, an ambulance, a firefighter’s truck, a tractor, a dumper, an aeroplane, a helicopter, a boat and much more.
